I hope you enjoy this update about all of the exciting things that are happening in the arts at SBCA! A brief update on our Parent’s Night Out event is also available below.
Art:
Art classes wrapped up about a dozen different Valentine’s projects that I’m sure you all were able to enjoy. We love Valentine’s Day art! Middle school began an art appreciation unit. We learned about so many different artists, their styles, and artwork. Our elementary kids began an artist study, as well.
Music:
Music classes are gearing up for our Spring Program! We can’t wait to perform the musical StarQuest that we started working on last year right before Covid hit. If we are unable to have a large audience, we will be recording and selling a DVD of the play!
Drama:
Our middle school drama kiddos had a blast on their “Gal-intines Day” field trip to meet Brandon Styles at OWA. They had the chance to see him perform, as well as hear his testimony and get a peek of the backstage area and dressing room. We’ve also been studying the musical Annie. We’ve done dry runs of the musical… singing included. We began a compare/contrast study of the 1982 and 2016 musicals and will be working on scenes from the play.
Parent’s Night Out:
It was a long year last year, many of our kiddos missed seeing their friends, and parents missed their date nights due to closures. That’s why we started Parent’s Night Out (PNO) this year. We had our first event on January 29th from 6-9 p.m. Parents came to drop off their kiddos all dressed-up and ready to hit the town. We had 17 kids between pre-school and 6th grade who hung out with us and ate pizza, played in the gym, danced to music, and watched Zootopia while munching on some popcorn. We’re looking forward to our future PNO events. So, be sure to check the school calendar, email announcements, and your kids’ folders to see when we’re having our next PNO.
