We will be launching a new Peer Helper program at SBCA this fall. Our Peer Helper program will be designed to offer a variety of preventative and supportive services initiated by student Peer Helpers, who are taught a set of core skills empowering them to assist their fellow students with social, emotional, behavioral, and educational challenges they face in day-to-day life.
The Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation is providing training and support for the development of our Peer Helper Program. The Foundation also supports 47 Peer Helper Programs in schools across Baldwin County, AL.
Peer Helpers not only assist classmates by listening empathetically, providing options for making healthy choices, becoming advocates, and helping them get involved in campus life but also become leaders and role models n the process of helping others improve their self-esteem. A brief video from the Jennifer Claire Moore Foundation featuring more information about this program is available below for parents and students who would like to learn more.
