“Use your gifts to serve one another” – 1 Peter 4:10
This verse has been the focus of our high school’s Key Club this year and essentially what they have adopted as their club’s motto. They have truly obtained this goal through diligently working this year on making a pivotal impact in the community with their foster care initiative.
The foster care program focuses on providing children with backpacks, diaper bags, or duffel bags filled with necessity and comfort items that many may lack when they first enter into a foster care home. Club members have focused on a variety of events throughout the year such as the school wide donation drive and the staff versus students basketball game in order to collect donations for children in the foster care system in our county.
Their most recent efforts involved the faculty Key Club advisers, Ashley Arnould and Cassandra Demarest, bringing awareness to the upcoming spring drive by speaking at the Coastal Alabama Business Chamber’s Friday Forum. As a school, we look forward to the opportunities that will come with partnering with local businesses to serve our community and even more to encourage this value within our own students.
