Covid-19 Info
Updated guidance from the CDC, the Alabama Department of Public Health (ADPH) recommends the following guidelines to help reduce the spread of this COVID-19. The SBCA Administration has determined our COVID-19 Guidelines for the remainder of the 2021-2022 school year as seen below with masks optional.
Contact tracing
SBCA will contact trace, communicate directly with those in close contact, and empower parents to make a decision that is best for their child. Individuals determined to be in close contact in the school setting will NOT be required to stay out of school.
If a student or staff member… | Procedure |

Feels sick or have symptoms of an illness | Stay home. Recommend COVID test, especially if symptoms become worse or if there has been direct exposure. |
Tests positive for COVID | Must stay home for 5 days following the onset of symptoms or a positive test. Student must be asymptomatic or symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours without the use of medication), followed by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter. |
Has been identified as a close contact as a result of someone in their home testing positive for COVID | Quarantines are no longer required for an exposure to Covid. Parents should watch closely for any symptoms. If cold-like symptoms develop, students should remain home until symptoms improve. |
Has been identified as a close contact as a result of someone at school testing positive for COVID | No quarantine is required. Parents will be notified and will be asked to monitor for signs of symptoms or illness, contacting the school if any develop. |
