As you can imagine, the past week has been quite busy “not at the Academy.” We commented to our Board Chair, Robert Mayes, earlier in the week that it was harder to have school on campus than it was to have school on campus. The teachers and administrators have really risen to the occasion and have jumped into the e-learning process.
At South Baldwin Christian Academy (SBCA), we are committed to continue to care for the educational and spiritual needs of our families during this unprecedented time in our nation's history. In preparation for this transition to online learning, we have added the following resources and services for our SBCA families...
I hope you are enjoying your time with your family. The staff and administration at South Baldwin Christian Academy (SBCA) met today to finalize our plan for eLearning. I think it's important for everyone to remember that this is going to be something new for teachers, students, and parents.
As we continue to monitor Covid-19 updates and access the implications of this situation on the SBCA community, we wanted to provide you with the latest information concerning our plans for responding to this public health situation. At this time, we are keeping the school open tomorrow, Mar. 17th, but are advising all parents to keep their children home if possible. We will be closing SBCA on Wed., Mar. 18th.
We hosted our 2nd Annual Daddy Daughter Dance on Saturday, February 8th. The event had a "masquerade ball" theme complete with a craft station for mask-making! Everything turned out incredible, from the meal to the decorations.
During the summer of 2019, SBCA began developing its goal of starting athletics for the middle and high school students. In order for SBCA to build a successful athletic program, the school joined the Christian Middle School Athletic Association (CMSAA) and the Panhandle Christian Conference (PCC).
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of the teachers, administration, volunteers and parents that have contributed towards the success of our newly formed athletic program at SBCA. We will be honoring our athletes, coaches and volunteers at our upcoming 2019-2020 Sports Banquet and Awards Ceremony on February 21st at 6:30pm in our school gymnatorium.
This year SBCA students are celebrating missions week February 3-7. Our teacher’s set aside time in their classes to study one of the seven continents. Students explore the customs and culture of their part of the world with a special emphasis placed on missions.
SBCA will be hosting the 2020 Association of Christian Teachers and Schools Conference this spring. This two day conference scheduled for March 26th and 27th will feature a general session each day and breakout sessions on a variety of topics designed to benefit Christian school administration, educators and support staff.
We are so grateful for the support of the Mayes family who recently donated all of the furnishings for our new Teacher's Lounge. Thanks to this donation, our teachers now have a beautiful space to hold meetings, spend time in teacher planning, and enjoy their lunch.
